MONDAY NIGHT QUESTION

Do you ever get the feeling that you'd better work everything in really fast
because the world is about to go tits up...
I mean
with gun-toting fuckers on every street corner --
ugly, bone-brained, illiterate cocksuckers with big guns --
brigades, battalions of hairy-palmed cretins armed to the teeth;
or do you fear that maybe
the old earth is just fed up, ready to heave
one final time and vomit up its insides,
unleashing some long dormant virus that'll rip us apart like microscopic buzz-saws?

Just asking.

I get this feeling whenever I take a vacation in Mogadishu. This post might be more material for your video punditry.

I'm just trying to work in all seven of George Carlin's infamous 'Seven Words' this month.

I think things have always been chaotic and traumatic and destructive, but that each generation manages to convince itself that the turmoil it faces is somehow something new.

Given, there are periods of comparative stability or upheaval, but that's all they are.

We are animals, after all. We have never been completely civilized.

BB: You're right.

We are, indeed, animals. And as a wise man told us long ago: life, in the state of nature is nasty, brutish and short. (Of course, improvements in sanitation and medical science have allowed us to indulge in the nasty and brutish bits a fair bit longer.)
